Come si chiamano i Kalush Orchestra?
Il gruppo è composto dal rapper Oleh Psjuk e dai musicisti Ihor Didenčuk e MC Kilimmen.
Carriera
La Kalush Orchestra prende il nome dalla città in cui si è formato nel 2019, Kaluš nell’Ucraina occidentale. I tre componenti sono il rapper Oleh Psiuk, il polistrumentista Ihor Didenchuk e dell’MC Kylymen, la band mescola il moderno e il classico e grazie a questo ha raggiunto rapidamente il successo commerciale nel paese, creando brani rap dallo slang della città natale di Psiuk.
I Kalush hanno pubblicato il loro primo album HOTIN nel 2021, seguito al grande successo del loro singolo “Zori”, più recentemente il gruppo ha deciso di creare la propria orchestra, incentrata sulla combinazione di hip hop e folklore antico, aprendosi alle collaborazioni con altri tre musicisti: il cantante e rapper Dzhonni Dyvniy, oltre ai polistrumentisti Tymofii Muzychuk e Vitalii Duzhyk.
La prima grande uscita dell’orchestra è arrivata con “Shtomber Womber” nel dicembre 2021. La canzone discuteva di questioni sociali e veniva accompagnata da un video musicale con strumenti antichi e un tipico mantello Ivano-Frankivsk.
Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Nel 2022 la Kalush Orchestra viene selezionata dalla Nacional’na Suspil’na Teleradiokompanija Ukraïny per rappresentare l’Ucraina all’Eurovision Song Contest, con il brano Stefania, numero uno in classifica in Ucraina.
Per il polistrumentista Ihor Didenchuk questa non sarà la prima esperienza sul palco dell’Eurovision, lo scoro anno ha accompagnato come flautista i Go_A a Rotterdam.
In prima battuta doveva assere Alina Pas con Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors a partecipare all’Eurovision, ma per via di una controversia, ha rinunciato alla manifestazione, così i Kalush sono stati selezionati internamente dall’emittente ucraina responsabile della partecipazione eurovisiva del paese, UA:PBC, come rappresentanti nazionali a Torino.
